‘From the Dings to the Cosmos!’ Photography by Lee Pullen
From The Dings to The Cosmos! This is The Clamshell Nebula, which is around 2200 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. The photo shows clouds of gas and dust within the central region of the nebula, which are being sculpted by powerful stellar winds and ultraviolet radiation from nearby hot, massive stars — in particular the supergiant 68 Cygni (the bright point in the bottom-right).
As always, this photo was taken from my back garden in The Dings. More info: https://urbanastrophotography.com/…/the-clamshell-nebula/

Development News
PLATFORM_ Consultation
From Old Market PLATFORM_ held a community consultation event on the 14th of November. Details of the development are here.
‘Vibrant new town centre’ proposed for Lawrence Hill
The plans include improved shopping areas, a new square and green spaces as well as 40 per cent affordable housing and social housing.
Proposals come from TownCentred, a ‘high street consultancy’ in Bishopston, who have worked with members of the Lawrence Hill community to develop a vision of “a vibrant new town centre with a mix of housing, workspace and community facilities”.
A Community consultation event with Dominus
was held on the 21st November Dings Park, 3pm-7.30pm.
One of the things the Dings Community Association was particularly keen to have input from residents on is the new community centre Dominus is including in its development. This would be situated on the corner of Kingsland Road and Sussex Street. The centre will have a manager, though it’s for the wider community to decide what to use the space for – all ideas welcome.
The Dominus team will be at the event to explain its revised proposals which include the new community centre; flexible employment spaces to support local businesses; landscaping improvements; a new pedestrian crossing for Kingsland Road; a new cycle connection into the Bristol-Bath Railway Path; and professionally managed student accommodation.
They welcome your feedback which you can provide at the event or via a consultation website, which will have all the details of the proposal from 21st November. www.newhenryyard.co.uk.
If you would like to speak with the Dominus team, please call 0800 193 9403 or email hello@newhenryyard.co.uk.”
